BAY VILLAGE, Ohio - Bay High School earned a 3-0 conference victory over Buckeye on Thursday, sweeping the match 25-14, 25-21, 25-13 at Bay High School. The Rockets combined a strong start with a decisive finish and used consistent serving throughout the lineup to secure the straight-set win.
Bay set the tone with an 11-point victory in the opening set. The Rockets maintained steady pressure from the service line and prevented Buckeye from settling into the match, taking the first set 25-14. That early result gave Bay control, but Buckeye responded with its best challenge of the evening in the second set.
The second set produced the closest margin of the match. Buckeye stayed within reach, forcing the Rockets to execute late before Bay completed a 25-21 win. By closing out the four-point set, the Rockets secured a 2-0 advantage and moved within one set of the conference sweep.
Bay finished emphatically in the third. The Rockets limited Buckeye to 13 points, their lowest total of the match, while completing another efficient race to 25. The 25-13 result gave Bay its largest set margin of the night and ended the match without the need for a fourth set.
Five Rockets recorded at least six service points in the balanced effort. Sloane Kerber led Bay with 11 service points, while Camille Costin added 10. Addy Hoegler finished with eight, Amelia Vecchio contributed seven and Payton Masterson recorded six. Together, their production at the line helped Bay win each set by at least four points and outscore Buckeye 75-48 across the match.
The Rockets next travel to face Westlake at 6 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. The road match gives Bay an opportunity to build on a conference performance that featured dependable serving, poise in the tight second set and a commanding closing set.
