Rockets Sweep Nordonia 5-0 Behind Singles and Doubles Success

Bay High School’s varsity girls tennis team earned a 5-0 victory over Nordonia on Tuesday, Sept. 1, completing the home sweep with three singles wins and two doubles win at the Bay Village Bradley Park courts.
Blaire Glass set the pace at first singles, defeating Nordonia’s top singles player 6-3, 6-2. Elizabeth Steels won in three sets with a third set tiebreaker 10-7. Madeline won third singles with a decisive 6-2, 6-0 win.
The Rockets also controlled both doubles matches. Ella Schelzig and Savannah Keberdle combined for a 6-3, 6-1 victory, building on their first-set advantage with an even stronger second set. Maura Mahoney and Mikayla Long opened their match with a 6-2 win, then held off Nordonia in a tighter second set, 7-5, to secure Bay’s fifth point.
