Rocky River hands Bay Boys Lacrosse a 15-1 defeat despite 20-plus saves from James Honicky
Rocky River Boys Lacrosse pulled away Tuesday night and the Bay Rockets a 15-1 loss at 20951 Detroit Rd, with the decisive story coming from sustained pressure on the Rockets' defense and a heavy workload for goalkeeper James Honicky.
Honicky turned in one of Bay's strongest individual efforts of the night, finishing with more than 20 saves and keeping the Rockets in the fight through long stretches. His play in cage was a key moment for Bay, repeatedly stopping point-blank chances and limiting further damage as Rocky River controlled possession and generated steady offense.
Bay's lone goal came from Rocco Ereditario, who accounted for the Rockets' only breakthrough. In a game where scoring chances were limited, Ereditario's finish stood out as the top offensive moment for Bay. The Rockets continued to battle for possessions and looks on attack, but Rocky River's defense prevented Bay from building any sustained momentum.
The difference was created over the course of the game by Rocky River's ability to keep pressure on the offensive end and force Bay to spend much of the night defending. Even with Honicky delivering save after save, the volume of shots eventually allowed the home side to build separation on the scoreboard.
For Bay, the performance in goal offered a clear bright spot. Honicky's 20-plus saves and Ereditario's goal provided the main highlights in a difficult road test for the Rockets men's varsity lacrosse team. Bay will look to carry those individual efforts forward as the schedule continues.
