GATES MILLS, Ohio - Bay High School earned a straight-sets victory at second doubles, but Gilmour captured the other four courts to defeat the Rockets 1-4 on Thursday in the varsity girls tennis match.
The Rockets' match victory came from Maura Mahoney and Mikayla Long, who won their second-doubles contest in straight sets. Their performance gave Bay a positive result in the doubles portion of the lineup and highlighted the team's effort on a clear afternoon at Gilmore.
Bay's singles lineup featured Blaire Glass in the first position, Savannah Keberdle at second singles and Madeline Mahoney at third singles. Gilmour prevailed on each of the three singles courts, accounting for most of the opponent's four points. In doubles, Ella Schelzig and Elizabeth Steele represented the Rockets in the first position.
