MEDINA, Ohio - Bay High School climbed to third place in the season-long CWC Tournament with a team score of 340 in the second round Monday. The Rockets finished eight strokes ahead of the Westlake Demons as Matthew Mileti and Emmitt Naughton each shot 83 and earned top-10 finishes for the round.

The Rockets’ scoring total came from two rounds of 83 and two rounds of 87. The top finishers also included Mileti and Naughton at 83, Schrock and Skryp at 87, Carey at 89 and Ropelewski at 90. That consistency at the top of the scorecard allowed Bay to secure third despite difficult scoring conditions.

The course presented an unusual challenge after hosting its club championship the previous day. Demanding pin placements remained in place, making approach shots and putting especially difficult. Bay struck the ball well throughout the round, but inconsistent putting prevented the Rockets from lowering their team total.

Bay created separation from Westlake on the back nine, which stretched approximately 3,400 yards. Will Schrock delivered a pivotal 41 over those closing nine holes, helping the Rockets pull away in the race for third. Ryan Skryp also posted an 87, providing another counting score during a steady team performance.

The result left Bay in third place after two rounds of the season-long tournament. Individually, Matthew Mileti is five strokes behind the tournament leader, keeping the top of the standings within reach. Emmitt Naughton stands in 11th place heading into the remaining competition.

The Rockets now will look to convert their strong ball striking into lower scores on the greens as they pursue second place. After gaining ground with a gritty round in Medina, Bay’s next objective is clear: put some fear into those ahead and continue climbing the leaderboard
