Tough Field, Valuable Lessons for Rockets Wrestling at Kenston

Bay Wrestling competed in the demanding Mid-Season Holiday Tournament, The KIT, on December 29 & 30th, at Kenston High School, facing a deep and competitive field of 35 schools. Bay entered eight varsity wrestlers, with the Rockets finishing 24th overall in a tournament that provided valuable midseason challenges and learning opportunities. Competing against quality opponents throughout the Kenston Invitational Tournament (The KIT), the Rockets were tested across multiple weight classes. While the results reflected the strength of the competition, the event served as an important measuring stick for the program’s continued growth and development. Leading the way for Bay was senior Joe Beauchesne, who continued his strong senior season with another composed and determined performance. Beauchesne not only delivered on the mat but also provided steady leadership, setting the standard for preparation, toughness, and competitiveness against high-level opponents. Freshman Max Prahl also turned in a strong showing, continuing his solid campaign with a 6th-place podium finish, further highlighting the program’s promising youth movement. Coach Clarke emphasized the value of events like Kenston during the middle of the season, stating, “I like putting our team in tough situations during the middle of the season. The competition we saw Monday and Tuesday at Kenston, along with the past two weeks overall, gives us valuable feedback. It’s about learning, adjusting, and getting better so we’re prepared when it matters most later in the year.” Looking ahead to the new year, the Rockets will shift their focus to Cleveland West Conference competition, beginning with a tri-match against Westlake High School and North Olmsted on January 8, 2026, hosted by Rocky River High School. Currently holding a 0–1 dual meet record, Bay plans to use the lessons learned at Kenston & Hudson as they prepare for the challenges of conference matches. Go Rockets!
