Young Rockets Rise to Challenge at Fox Meadow Country Club

Earlier in the week, several of Bay’s younger Rockets had the opportunity to showcase their talents at Fox Meadow Country Club in a shortened nine-hole varsity event. With relentless wind, steady rain, and challenging course conditions, our young golfers demonstrated confidence, resilience, and a willingness to compete against varsity-level competition. Despite the difficult circumstances, they embraced the challenge and gained valuable experience that will contribute to their continued development.

(Fr.) Max Berry led the way for the Rockets, capturing medalist honors with an impressive 44. Max showcased his power and efficiency off the tee, consistently positioning himself to attack the longer holes with mid- and short-irons. His ability to create scoring opportunities in demanding conditions was a highlight of the round.

(Soph.) Sam Vardon followed closely behind with a solid 46, overcoming both a slow start and a sore hip to deliver a commendable performance. The highlight of his round came on the par-3 13th, where Sam nearly recorded his first ace. With confidence and composure, he struck a beautifully executed 7-iron that came to rest just five inches from the bottom of the cup. A remarkable shot and a memorable moment!

Rounding out the Rockets' scoring were (Fr.) Josh Plautz and (Fr.) Jack McAllister, who each posted a 47. Josh consistently produced quality shots with his 5-wood, demonstrating impressive ball striking and poise throughout the round. Jack continued to compete with determination, gaining valuable experience in conditions that tested every player in the field.

While the weather conditions were undeniably demanding, the experience provided an important lesson in preparation, adaptability, and perseverance. Golf doesn't always reward perfect conditions—it rewards players who are willing to embrace the challenge and find a way forward.
