Balanced Effort, Big Start Carry Buckeye Boys Past Avon at Nautical Lanes
Buckeye Boys bowling opened the new year with a strong road victory Monday night, rolling past Avon 2,367-2,233 at Spevock's Nautical Lanes. Behind a fast start in the first team game and steady scoring throughout the lineup, the Bucks controlled the match from the opening frames and never trailed.
Buckeye seized early momentum in Game 1, posting a 1,027 total to Avon's 888. That 139-pin cushion set the tone for the night and gave the Bucks valuable breathing room. In Game 2, Avon responded with improved scoring, but Buckeye answered every push, taking the second game 969-946 to maintain a comfortable lead heading into Baker play.
Senior leadership and depth proved decisive for Buckeye in the traditional games. Kevin Miller led the way with games of 258 and 204, setting the pace at the top of the lineup and providing crucial strikes in key spots. John Ambrose added a highly consistent series with games of 216 and 217, giving the Bucks a reliable anchor presence and steady count frames in both games.
The Bucks also received important support scoring in the middle of the order. Carter Fry turned in games of 186 and 211, finishing his series with a strong second game to help hold off Avon's surge. Hunter Uehlein contributed a 199 and 169, adding depth that allowed Buckeye to keep pressure on Avon across all ten frames of each game. In all, three Buckeye bowlers finished with individual games over 200, underscoring the team's balance at the top.
With the 2,367-2,233 win, the Bucks not only picked up an important road result at Avon but also showcased the kind of depth and upper-lineup firepower that can carry them through the heart of the schedule. If Buckeye can continue pairing big starts like Monday’s 1,027 opener with steady Baker performances, the team will remain well-positioned for conference play and postseason preparation.
