Bucks Girls Place Third at Quad Meet, Stack Up Personal Bests in Rocky River

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The Buckeye girls swimming team turned in a strong early-season effort Wednesday night, placing third in a quad meet with Rocky River, Magnificat and Valley Forge at the Rocky River pool while collecting a long list of personal-best swims.
Junior Abby Parrot led the way for the Bucks, scoring in both of her individual events. Parrot claimed second place in the 200 individual medley, then added a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke to cap one of the team’s top all-around performances of the evening. Her finishes helped anchor Buckeye’s team scoring and set the tone for the rest of the lineup.
Fellow junior Maddie Kreeger also delivered key points for Buckeye. Kreeger placed fifth in the 100 butterfly and came back later in the meet to take third in the 100 backstroke, giving the Bucks another dependable presence in the middle lanes. The combination of Parrot and Kreeger in multiple strokes provided Buckeye with balance across the lineup.
Freshman sprinter Bobbie Zarobell added to the scoring effort with a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle, showing early promise in one of the meet’s most competitive events. Zarobell then joined sophomores and juniors on the 4x100 freestyle relay, where the Bucks’ quartet of Maddie Dahlquist, Zarobell, fellow junior Maddie Kreeger and junior Abby Parrot combined for a fifth-place finish overall. The relay performance capped the meet for the Buckeye girls with another solid point-producing swim.
On the boys side, Buckeye was highlighted by Noah’s standout performance in the butterfly and backstroke events. He captured first place in the 100 butterfly, then followed with a second-place finish in the 100 backstroke.
With a third-place team finish for the girls and strong individual showings from both the girls and boys, Buckeye leaves Rocky River with momentum and a foundation of personal-best swims to build on as the schedule continues.
