Balanced lineup, big Bakers push Buckeye past Norwalk in dominant home win

Buckeye rolled to a convincing home victory over Norwalk on Saturday at Buckeye Lanes, posting a 2,604–1,820 win behind a balanced lineup and a strong Baker finish.

Kevin Miller led the Bucks with the top series of the day, firing games of 225 and 257 for a 482 set that set the tone at the top of the lineup. Close behind was John Ambrose, who added a 233–245—478 series that gave Buckeye a powerful one-two punch and helped create an early gap that Norwalk could not close.

Buckeye’s depth was equally evident in the middle of the order. Alex Marconi turned in a 236–211—447 series, providing consistent scoring that kept the Bucks well in front on total pins. Sean Chambers followed with games of 195 and 210 for a 405 series, maintaining Buckeye’s momentum through the second game as the hosts continued to add to their advantage.

Rounding out the individual scoring, Carter Fry contributed a 224 and added a 149 in what was listed as a SAW game, giving Buckeye another solid performance on a day when nearly every bowler found a way to bolster the total. With multiple bowlers clearing the 400-series mark and several cracking 230-plus games, the Bucks steadily pulled away from Norwalk across the two regulation games.

The match was effectively put out of reach in Baker play, where Buckeye closed with games of 162 and 257. That 257 Baker highlighted the Bucks’ ability to string strikes as a group, capping the team’s total at 2,604 and widening the final margin to nearly 800 pins. Norwalk, meanwhile, was unable to match Buckeye’s pace in either individual or Baker formats, finishing at 1,820.

With the decisive home win, Buckeye showcased both high-end scoring and lineup balance that should serve the Bucks well as the season progresses. Behind leaders like Miller and Ambrose and strong supporting series from Marconi, Chambers and Fry, Buckeye established an early standard for the kind of complete team effort it will look to replicate in upcoming matches.
