Big Second Game, Clutch Bakers Lift Buckeye Past Avon at Nautical Lanes
Buckeye High School’s girls bowling team delivered a resilient road victory at Spevock’s Nautical Lanes on Monday night, rallying past Avon 1,693–1,529 behind a huge second game and confident Baker play to close the match.
After a slow start in Game 1, the Bucks found themselves trailing 715–674 and needing a response. They answered in a big way in Game 2, surging to a 752–583 win that completely flipped the match. That 169-pin swing not only erased the early deficit but gave Buckeye a cushion heading into the Baker portion, where the Bucks stayed steady and refused to let Avon back in.
The turning point came in those final Baker games. Buckeye strung together team-focused, clean frames to roll Bakers of 122 and 145, effectively sealing the match. Avon managed Baker games of 103 and 128, but the Bucks’ consistency and timely marks in the anchor stretch kept control of the scoreboard and secured the 164-pin overall margin.
Individually, several Bucks bowlers stepped up with standout series. Aubrey Reuter led the way with a powerful 131–208 set, using that 200-plus second game to fuel the team’s surge. Addison Fry added a strong pair of games at 136 and 175, providing steady production in the middle of the lineup. LaRyssa Hartshorn chipped in with a 158–109 effort, helping Buckeye build and protect its lead when the momentum began to swing.
The 1,693 team total reflected not just one big score, but a complete team performance. From early adjustments after the opening game to the confident finish in Bakers, the Bucks showed poise on a challenging road pair and responded to adversity with focus and energy. Every bowler’s contribution in filling frames and staying locked in was critical to turning a Game 1 deficit into a convincing match win.
With this comeback victory over Avon, Buckeye’s girls squad added a statement road result to its season, showcasing both top-end scoring and the kind of team-first execution that matters most in Baker play. The performance at Nautical Lanes gives the Bucks valuable momentum and confidence as the schedule continues against conference and nonconference opponents alike.
