Buckeye High School Girls Cross Country

Buckeye opened its cross country season with a pair of strong team performances Monday evening, placing second in the boys race and sixth in the girls race at the Keystone Icebreaker at Carlisle Equestrian center. Dimitry Pshonyak led the boys with a runner-up finish in 16 minutes, 50 seconds, while Joe Stahl crossed six seconds later to take third in 16:56.

The back-to-back finishes gave Buckeye a strong presence near the front of the boys field. With only six seconds separating Dimitry Pshonyak and Joe Stahl, the two runners formed a tight lead pairing and supplied the low individual places that helped propel the boys to second in the team standings.

Buckeye also received a top-15 performance from John Galayda III, who finished in 17:53. The three leading boys were separated by 1:03, giving the team a productive front pack in its first race of the year. Rather than relying on one standout result, Buckeye placed three runners among the meet's top 15 to build its runner-up team finish.

Coach Renee Harden
"Taking second to Cloverleaf shows us what we need to do to match that competition."

On the girls side, freshman Hannah Dugan led Buckeye with a top-15 finish in 21:08. Hayleigh Kreeger added another top-20 result, placing 20th in 21:59. Their 51-second separation established the front of the Buckeye pack and helped the girls secure sixth place in the team standings.

The season opener began at 6:45 p.m. under clear skies, with the temperature at 65 degrees and winds at 9 mph. Buckeye will next host the Buckeye Invitational at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, with the boys looking to build on their second-place debut and the girls carrying two top-20 performances into their next race.
