Buckeye broke the game open with a 10-run fourth inning and rolled past Valley Forge 16-1 in a varsity baseball game Monday at Veterans Memorial Park, turning an early lead into a lopsided finish behind Logan Brown’s four-RBI day and a dominant outing from Tyler Heers.
The decisive stretch came in the fourth, when the Bucks sent a wave of runners across the plate to put the game out of reach. Brown started the inning’s biggest swing with a two-run home run to left field. Cole Burtzlaff followed with a two-run single, Andrew Lazar and Avery Conde each drew bases-loaded walks, Brown added another RBI with a walk, an error brought home two more runs, and Zachary Stough capped the outburst with an RBI groundout. By the time the inning ended, Buckeye had turned a comfortable margin into a rout.
Buckeye had already seized control in the second inning. Aaron Hamman drove in the first run with a single, Rees Perkins added a two-run single, Zach Seeley followed with an RBI single, Brown delivered another run-scoring single, and an error plated one more. That six-run burst gave the Bucks a 6-0 advantage and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon.
Brown finished with two hits and four RBIs, helping lead a 12-hit attack. Stough and Seeley also had two hits apiece, while Buckeye’s lineup kept pressure on Valley Forge throughout the game. The Bucks drew seven walks, stole eight bases and consistently created traffic on the bases. Perkins, Seeley and Brown each stole multiple bases as Buckeye paired extra chances with aggressive baserunning.
Heers earned the win on the mound, allowing three hits and one unearned run over four innings. The right-hander struck out nine and walked two, limiting Valley Forge’s chances to answer. Colton Price handled the final inning and did not allow a hit, striking out two in a scoreless relief appearance. Buckeye also turned a double play on defense.
Valley Forge starter B Sanhago took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits over two innings. Buckeye, playing as the visiting team, improved its day with steady production early and a game-clinching fourth inning that left little doubt by the final out.
