Buckeye Girls Bowling Uses Big Second Game, Strong Bakers to Top Avon

Buckeye High School’s girls bowling team surged past Avon on Monday night at Spevock’s Nautical Lanes, using a dominant second regular game and steady Baker play to secure a 1,693–1,529 victory.

The Bucks faced an early deficit after the opening game, as Avon grabbed a 715–674 lead. Buckeye struggled to find consistency in the first set, leaving work on the back ends of frames and allowing Avon to build a 41-pin cushion. That early hole, however, set the stage for a decisive turnaround in Game 2.

Buckeye answered emphatically in the second game, rolling a 752 to Avon’s 583 and flipping the match in one stretch. The 169-pin advantage in Game 2 erased the early deficit and gave the Bucks a comfortable lead heading into Baker play. The team’s ability to regroup between games and adjust to lane conditions proved critical as they seized control of the match.

Individually, several Bucks delivered standout performances. Aubrey Reuter led the way with games of 131 and 208, using her big second game to anchor the turnaround. Addison Fry added steady scoring with a 136–175 series, while LaRyssa Hartshorn contributed a 158 in the first game paired with a 109 in the second. The trio’s production keynoted Buckeye’s surge in the 752 set that ultimately decided the match.

With the lead in hand, Buckeye closed the door in Baker competition. The Bucks posted Baker games of 122 and 145, maintaining their advantage and preventing any late Avon rally. Avon managed Baker scores of 103 and 128, but those totals were not enough to cut significantly into Buckeye’s cushion built during the second regular game.

The complete-team effort, highlighted by clutch individual games and solid Baker execution, allowed Buckeye to overcome a slow start and finish the night with a comfortable margin. The Bucks’ 1,693 total and strong response after trailing early give the team momentum heading into the remainder of the schedule.
