Buckeye Home Run Club Gets Set for 1st Annual Buckeye Home Run Derby
Buckeye High School Athletics is gearing up for a fun summer day at the ballfields with the 1st Annual Buckeye Home Run Derby, set for Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Baseball and Softball Fields, 3084 Columbia Rd. in Medina. The event promises a full day of swings, friendly competition and community energy, all while supporting the Home Run Club. Click Here to Register!
The derby is open to a wide range of participants, beginning with boys and girls ages 8-10 from 9 to 10 a.m. and continuing through divisions for ages 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-25, 26-34 and 35 and older. That broad schedule gives the day a true all-ages feel, with younger hitters, older players and adult competitors all getting their turn in the batter's box.
Each participant will bring their own pitcher and get 10 swings, putting the focus squarely on power, timing and a little nerves-under-pressure poise. Awards will be handed out at the conclusion of each division, adding another layer of excitement as every age group gets its own spotlight before the next set of hitters steps in.
Registration remains open through July 8, 2026, at 7 p.m., and spots are limited. If an age group fills up, a waitlist is available by an email to dustymetter@gmail.com , with participants asked to use “HOME RUN DERBY” in the subject line and include the participant’s name, age, birthday and phone number. An updated schedule will be emailed two weeks before the event if adjustments are needed based on signups.
More than just a day of long balls, the derby also serves as a fundraiser for Buckeye’s Home Run Club, giving every swing a little extra meaning. And if the weather does not cooperate, refunds will not be available in the event of cancellation. For Buckeye baseball supporters and anyone who loves a good challenge at the plate, this one should bring plenty of energy from the first round through the final awards presentation.
