Buckeye broke the game open in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back Wednesday, beating Westchester Country Day 11-1 at Ebbets Field in Myrtle Beach.

The decisive stretch came when the Bucks sent runs home in rapid succession. Stough singled in a run, Seeley added a sacrifice fly, Metter followed with a two-run single and Costigan capped the burst with an RBI single as Buckeye grabbed control early. After that five-run inning, the Bucks kept pressure on the Wildcats and finished with 11 hits.

Heers handled the rest on the mound. The Buckeye starter worked five innings, allowed three hits and one run, struck out eight and walked two to earn the win. Westchester Country Day starter Burr-Ellis took the loss after allowing five hits and five runs in 1 2/3 innings while striking out one and walking none.

Buckeye's offense was steady throughout the lineup. Costigan and Stough each collected two hits, while Perkins and Seeley each drove in two runs. Cole Burtzlaff also supplied a strong night at the plate and in the field. Burtzlaff hit two line drives, went 1-for-2 with a double and turned in three quality at-bats in three trips to the plate. Two of the three balls he put in play were driven to the outfield, and he finished in hitter's counts in two of his three plate appearances.

Buckeye is scheduled to return to action Thursday against Kendall.
