Buckeye set for Senior Night matchup against Aurora
Buckeye High School’s girls varsity lacrosse team returns home Monday for a 6 p.m. matchup with Aurora at the Soccer and Track Complex, a game that carries added significance as the Bucks celebrate Senior Night. For a program still building in its second season, the matchup offers another chance to measure progress while recognizing two senior leaders, Natalie Clark and Andreea Ghise, before the home crowd.
The Bucks enter the night looking to finish the season strong, and the Aurora game shapes up as a competitive test. Buckeye’s development has been one of the central storylines this spring, and Monday’s contest gives the team an opportunity to show how far it has come. With the game set at Buckeye High School, the setting also adds to the atmosphere for a team hoping to turn Senior Night into one of its most memorable evenings of the season.
Clark is one of the key players to watch. The senior midfielder has been identified as the team’s leading scorer, and her work on the draw gives Buckeye an important possession advantage. In lacrosse, control off the draw can shape the tempo of all four quarters, and Clark’s ability to help the Bucks establish possession should be a major factor against Aurora. Her role as both a scorer and a draw specialist makes her central to Buckeye’s attack.
Ghise will be just as important on the other end of the field. The senior anchors the Buckeye defense and provides a steady presence in front of the goal, a critical role in a matchup expected to be tightly contested. If Buckeye can limit clean looks, win ground-ball battles and stay organized in transition, Ghise’s leadership could help set the tone for the defensive effort throughout the evening.
Senior Night ceremonies will put the spotlight on Clark and Ghise, two captains whose influence reaches beyond the stat sheet. For Buckeye, Monday is about more than one result. It is a chance to celebrate the foundation those seniors have helped build and to continue the program’s push forward in its second season, with Aurora providing the next test at 6 p.m. on Buckeye’s home field.
