Buckeye Standouts Set for Finals at Jim Stacy Winter Championships

GENEVA, Ohio — Buckeye High School will be represented in tonight’s finals at the Jim Stacy Winter Championships at Spire Academy, as junior Abby Parrott and senior Noah Parrott advanced out of the A flight and positioned the Bucks for a strong finish at the high-level midseason meet.

Four Buckeye swimmers competed in the championship on Saturday, with Abby and Noah leading the way by qualifying for evening swims and posting time drops in their individual events. The meet, held in one of the region’s premier facilities, offers a key measuring stick for the Bucks as the season moves toward championship competition later this winter.

Noah Parrott, a senior, continued his progression in the butterfly and backstroke events, lowering his times in both prelims and finals. He closed the night with a 59.37 in the 100 butterfly and a 57.97 in the 100 backstroke, demonstrating both consistency and late-session speed. His performances place him among the meet’s more competitive upperclassmen and provide encouraging momentum heading into conference and postseason meets.

On the girls side, junior Abby Parrott secured a finals lane with strong prelim swims in two challenging events. She qualified with a 2:26.79 in the 200 individual medley and a 1:15.42 in the 100 breaststroke, showcasing her versatility across strokes and her potential to score in multiple disciplines. Her advancement in the A flight signals Buckeye’s ability to contend in technically demanding events against deep fields.

With both Parrotts earning evening swims and all four Buckeye competitors gaining experience on a championship stage, the Jim Stacy Winter Championships serve as a confidence-building checkpoint for the Bucks. The results from Spire Academy are expected to carry forward as the team refines event lineups and prepares for league, sectional and district competition in the coming weeks.
