Bucks Beat Normandy 3-1 to Extend Winning Streak to Six

MEDINA, Ohio - Buckeye volleyball defeated Normandy 3-1 on Monday, Oct. 5, in Medina, extending its winning streak to six matches. The Bucks won 25-19, 25-13, 22-25, 25-21, closing out the home victory after Normandy took the third set.
Buckeye established a two-set advantage with a six-point win in the opener and its widest margin of the night in the second set. Normandy stayed in the match with a three-point victory in the third, cutting the Bucks’ lead to 2-1. Buckeye then secured the fourth set by four points to finish the match without a deciding fifth set.
Erin Salazar led the Bucks with 16 kills and contributed across several areas, adding 14 service points, 13 digs and one block kill. Lauren Zerr supplied 12 kills, giving Buckeye a second double-digit attacker. Aurora Allen finished with 36 assists to support the offense.
Greycee Holden paced Buckeye at the service line with five aces and matched Salazar’s 14 service points. Holden also recorded one block kill. Avery Lewandowski added 10 digs, joining Salazar in double figures defensively as the Bucks combined contributions from their attack, serving and back-row play.
The six-match winning streak matches the school’s 10th-longest since the Ohio High School Athletic Association adopted rally scoring in 2004. Erica Repas became the sixth Buckeye coach to win six consecutive matches in the past 23 seasons, adding a coaching milestone to the team’s current run.
Buckeye stands at 7-4 in conference play after the four-set victory and 10-9 overall. The Bucks will look to bounce back in their next contest on Tuesday, Oct. 6, against Bay High School.
