WESTLAKE, Ohio - Buckeye’s varsity volleyball team earned a 3-1 road victory over Westlake on Tuesday night, combining a balanced attack with steady defense to secure a hard-fought conference win. The Bucks took the match 25-14, 26-24, 24-26, 25-23 at Westlake High School Main Gym, improving to 3-4 in conference play and 5-9 overall.
The Bucks established the tone with a commanding 25-14 victory in the opening set. Westlake applied more pressure in the second, pushing the set beyond the usual 25-point finish, but Buckeye held firm in the decisive moments to claim a 26-24 win and build a two-set advantage. The close finish proved important as the match developed into a series of tight rallies and narrow margins.
Westlake extended the match by edging Buckeye 26-24 in the third set, but the Bucks responded with poise in another closely contested frame. With the fourth set and the match on the line, Buckeye finished a 25-23 victory to close out the road win. Three of the four sets were decided by two points, making the Bucks’ execution in pressure situations a defining part of the result.
Erin Salazar powered the offense with a team-high 11 kills while also anchoring the defense with 20 digs. Katie Csach and Lauren Zerr added nine kills apiece, giving the Bucks multiple reliable options at the net. Csach and Blakely Herman each recorded two block kills, strengthening Buckeye’s presence along the front row.
Aurora Allen directed the balanced attack with 38 assists and contributed throughout the rotation with four aces and 17 digs. Sammie Hart added 10 service points, helping Buckeye apply pressure from the service line. The all-around effort gave the Bucks a rewarding conference victory and momentum heading into a home match against Valley Forge High School on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at 6 p.m. EDT.
