Buckeye placed three golfers in the top 10 and received an 80 from Michael West Valus during Round 2 of the CWC Conference Tournament on Monday in Medina, Ohio. The Bucks’ four lowest rounds combined for a 329, though official team standings were not available. Six Buckeye golfers completed the 18-hole event in partly cloudy conditions.
Valus led the Bucks with a steady opening nine, carding a 38 before closing with a 42. His 80 earned a tie for third place, three strokes behind Lakewood’s James,Sattler, who won the individual competition with a 77 after shooting 37 on the front nine and 40 on the back.
Cam Morton delivered Buckeye’s lowest nine-hole score of the day, opening with a 36. A back-nine 46 gave Morton an 82 and a tie for sixth. Andy West Kost added the Bucks’ third top-10 finish, following a front-nine 40 with a 43 to tie for eighth at 83. Those three rounds put Buckeye golfers within six shots of the individual lead.
Buckeye’s scoring depth continued with Benjamin Lange, who posted matching 42s for an 84 and tied for 12th. Ian Collins finished one stroke back in 16th place after rounds of 43 and 42. Wyatt Kujat completed the lineup with a 45 on the front and a 47 on the back, tying for 34th with a 92.
The Bucks totaled 506 strokes across all six rounds and averaged 84.33 per golfer. Their four best scores were separated by only four strokes, from Valus’ 80 through Lange’s 84. Buckeye’s six-player front-nine total was 244, compared with 262 on the back nine, with Morton setting the pace through the opening nine.
