ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - Buckeye fell to Rocky River 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Rocky River High School Main Gym. The Bucks scored 18 points in the opening set, went through a difficult second set and mounted their strongest push of the match in the third before Rocky River completed the sweep, 25-18, 25-12, 25-20.

The Bucks stayed within reach during the first set but could not overcome Rocky River’s push to 25. The hosts then created separation in the second, holding Buckeye to 12 points. Buckeye responded with a more competitive third set, producing a match-high 20 points and forcing Rocky River to work through the closest finish of the night before securing the final five-point margin.

Katilyn Csach led Buckeye’s attack with six kills. Erin Salazar and Aurora Allen added five kills apiece, giving the Bucks three hitters with at least five. Aurora Allen directed the offense with 17 assists, while Kelsey Wills contributed seven assists. The setting production helped Buckeye generate options at the net as it looked for an answer to Rocky River’s defense.

Allen also led the Bucks with five service points and recorded one of the team’s three aces. Wills and Salazar each served an ace as well. Defensively, Avery Lewandowski paced Buckeye with 10 digs. Salazar, Greycee Holden, Blakely Herman and Lilly Teconchuk each supplied one block kill, giving the Bucks contributions across the front row despite the result.

The loss moved Buckeye to 2-4 in conference play and 4-8 overall. The Bucks will return to the road Saturday, Sept. 19, for a 10 a.m. EDT match against Fairview High School - Fairview Park.
