Bucks Finish Fifth at Winter Shootout; Ambrose Makes All-Tournament Team

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Led by a standout all-tournament performance from John Ambrose, the Buckeye Bucks boys bowling team finished fifth overall Saturday at the 2025 Winter Shootout at Bowling Palace in Columbus.
Ambrose paced the Bucks with a 687 series, earning a spot on the all-tournament team and anchoring the lineup with a high game of 285. He opened with a 223, followed with the 285, and closed his three-game block with a 195 to give Buckeye one of the top individual sets of the event.
Buckeye’s depth behind Ambrose helped secure the fifth-place team finish in a competitive field. Alex Marconi turned in a steady three-game series of 610, rolling games of 184, 215 and 211. Carter Fry added another strong set with a 584 series, scoring 195, 177 and 212 to keep the Bucks’ total climbing through the individual games.
Hunter Uehlein contributed early with games of 186 and 176 for a 362 total before Kevin Miller stepped in as a substitute in Game 3. Miller responded with a 222 game, giving Buckeye a key lift in the lineup and helping stabilize the scoring as the event moved toward the Baker portion.
In Baker play, the Bucks put together a consistent block that helped lock in their top-five finish. Buckeye posted games of 161, 194, 190, 168 and 210 for a 1,069 Baker total, highlighted by the 210 closer as the team finished the format with momentum. The Baker run provided valuable pins in a tightly packed standings table.
With Ambrose’s all-tournament recognition and multiple bowlers surpassing the 580 mark in series play, the Bucks demonstrated both high-end scoring and depth across the roster. The fifth-place finish at the Winter Shootout gives Buckeye positive traction heading into the heart of its schedule and upcoming conference and tournament action.
