Bucks Men’s Bowling edges North Ridgeville behind Marconi’s 460 series
Buckeye High School’s boys varsity bowling team used a string of strong individual series and steady Baker games to outduel North Ridgeville 2,395-2,295 in a home match at Medina Lanes on Wednesday.
The Bucks built their advantage in regular games behind a standout performance from Alex Marconi, who led all scorers with a 244-216—460 series. His opening 244 set the tone for Buckeye’s lineup and gave the team early momentum, and he followed it with a 216 to help keep North Ridgeville at arm’s length as totals climbed.
Sean Chambers and Kevin Miller provided critical depth in the varsity rotation. Chambers rolled games of 205 and 214 for a 419 series, giving Buckeye a consistent presence in the middle of the lineup. Miller matched Chambers’ opening 205 and added a 191 for a 396 series, helping the Bucks stack makeable marks and fill frames in both team games. The trio’s combined 1,275 pins formed the core of Buckeye’s varsity total and created enough cushion to withstand North Ridgeville’s pushes.
Buckeye then closed the match with two efficient Baker games, posting scores of 202 and 222. The 222 in particular served as a match-clinching finish, as the Bucks stayed clean through key frames and converted spares to shut down any late comeback attempt by North Ridgeville. The 424 Baker total helped lock in the final 100-pin margin and underscored the team’s ability to execute in the shared-frame format.
The junior varsity boys followed the varsity lead with a decisive victory of their own, defeating North Ridgeville 1,867-1,318. John Ambrose paced the JV group with a 177 game, while Gavin Onyx added a 170 to keep the Bucks comfortably in front. SAW contributed a strong pair of games at 179 and 170, further stretching the advantage as Buckeye’s depth showed throughout the lineup.
Together, the varsity and JV wins reflected a complete effort for the Bucks program, highlighted by high series at the top of the order and balanced scoring throughout both rosters. With Marconi’s 460 series leading the way and the team closing strong in Bakers, Buckeye carried its home-lane performance into a solid dual-match sweep and added momentum for the upcoming dates on the schedule.
