Bucks Sweep Wellington Behind Strong Serving and Balanced Attack

MEDINA, Ohio - Buckeye swept Wellington 3-0 in varsity volleyball Saturday, Oct. 3, in Medina, winning 25-12, 25-18, 25-16. Kelsey Willis and Lauren Zerr combined for 13 aces, while Lauren Zerr led the Bucks’ attack with 11 service points in the straight-sets victory.
The Bucks opened with their largest winning margin of the match, taking the first set by 13 points. Wellington finished closer in the second, but Buckeye secured the 25-18 decision for a two-set advantage. The Bucks then closed out the match with a nine-point win in the third, avoiding the need for a fourth set.
Willis delivered eight aces and 11 service points, giving Buckeye a substantial scoring contribution from the service line. Zerr added five aces and also finished with 11 service points. Together, the two supplied 22 service points across the three sets, complementing the Bucks’ production at the net.
Katie Csach's 11 kills paced the offense, with Erin Salazar contributing eight more. Aurora Allen finished with 20 assists, supplying the setting that supported Buckeye’s hitters. Csach and Salazar combined for 19 kills as the Bucks paired their serving production with multiple attacking options.
Avery Lewandowski recorded 12 digs to lead the back-row defensive effort. Allen also contributed a solo block, and Greycee Holden finished with two block assists. Those contributions gave Buckeye defensive production both behind the block and at the net.
The Bucks stand at 6-4 in conference play following the sweep. The Bucks will look to bounce back in their next contest on Monday, Oct. 5, against Normandy.
