Lady Bucks Place Fifth at Snowy Lakewood Sprint Meet
LAKEWOOD, Ohio — The Buckeye High School girls swimming and diving team placed fifth with 61 points at the 2nd Annual Lakewood Sprint Invitational on Saturday, capping a snowy afternoon with a series of strong individual and relay performances against a seven-team field.
The Lady Bucks continued their trend of time drops across the lineup, highlighted by junior Abby Parrot’s standout meet. Parrot led Buckeye’s scoring with a first-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke, touching in 31.94 seconds. She added a third-place finish in the 50 breaststroke in 35.86 and a fifth-place showing in the 100 individual medley at 1:11.27, accounting for a significant share of the team’s overall point total.
Fellow junior Maddie Kreeger also contributed key points with a busy sprint schedule. Kreeger placed 10th in the 100 freestyle in 1:08.03, 10th in the 50 butterfly in 36.95, and 11th in the 50 backstroke in 38.09. Her finishes helped solidify Buckeye’s standing in the middle of the team pack and provided depth behind Parrot’s top-end results.
Buckeye’s relays added important scoring as well. The medley relay of Amy Justice, Parrot, Kreeger and Tessa Schell placed ninth, while the freestyle relay of Kreeger, Maddie Dahlquist, Justice and Parrot finished eighth. Those relay efforts, combined with the individual swims, helped push the Lady Bucks to their 61-point total in the sprint-focused format.
On the boys side, Noah Parrot turned in one of the program’s top individual performances of the day, finishing fifth overall with 25 points. He placed ninth in the 100 individual medley in 1:04.37, fifth in the 50 butterfly in 27.97 and fourth in the 50 backstroke in 28.05, showcasing consistency across all three of his events.
Coaches noted the continued time drops and solid relay execution as positive signs as the season progresses. With strong showings from veterans like Abby and Noah Parrot and emerging contributors such as Kreeger, Justice, Dahlquist and Schell, Buckeye leaves the Lakewood Sprint Invitational with momentum and additional confidence heading into the heart of its winter schedule.
