Seven Champions Crowned at Buckeye Baseball's First Home Run Derby

Buckeye Baseball’s first Home Run Derby delivered a winning combination of big swings, friendly competition and community spirit Saturday, July 25, at the Buckeye baseball field. Harry Weckesser, Garrett Schneider, Cole Courtwright, Turner Dolata, Andy Schneider, Travis Auth and Morgan Dolata earned individual honors, but the day’s biggest victory belonged to the Buckeye Baseball community that came together to make the inaugural event a success.

Competitors arrived from across the county ready to swing for the fences, with the farthest participant making the trip from Columbus. The sound of hard-hit baseballs mixed with great music throughout the event, while good-natured banter among the competitors added to the lively atmosphere. Clear skies, light winds and great temperatures provided a fitting backdrop for a full day at the ballpark.

The derby showcased plenty of power, but it also captured the fun and connection that make baseball special. Players supported one another between turns, families and fans shared in the excitement, and smiles spread throughout the fields as each competitor stepped in for a chance to launch another long ball. The event brought together athletes of different ages and backgrounds through a shared love of the game.

At the end of the competition, Harry Weckesser, Garrett Schneider, Cole Courtwright, Turner Dolata, Andy Schneider, Travis Auth and Morgan Dolata stood as the day’s trophy winners. Their strong performances highlighted a memorable first edition of the derby and gave the crowd seven champions to celebrate. Just as importantly, every participant helped establish an energetic and welcoming tradition that Buckeye Baseball can continue building in future years.

Buckeye Baseball’s Home Run Club once again showed the strength of the program’s baseball family, turning an idea into a community celebration filled with power hitting, team spirit and fun. After a successful debut, the bats can stay hot as Buckeye Baseball looks forward to bringing the Home Run Derby back next year.
