Snyderburn’s Double-Double Not Enough as Bucks Fall 54-48 at Strongsville

Strongsville pulled away late in the second half to hand Bucks Men’s Basketball a 54-48 road loss on Tuesday night, edging past a strong effort that featured a dominant double-double from Derek Snyderburn.

Buckeye opened well and held a 1-point lead after the first quarter, setting the tone with active defense and efficient half-court offense. Strongsville answered in the second quarter, but the Bucks matched the surge, sending the teams into halftime tied. The game stayed within a possession or two for much of the night before Strongsville used a late push to outscore Buckeye 26-20 after the break and secure the win.

Snyderburn powered the Bucks’ attack, finishing with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The forward was effective around the rim and on the glass, consistently giving Buckeye second-chance opportunities and battling defensively in the lane. His presence kept the Bucks in control early and gave them a reliable option whenever the offense needed a basket.

Zak Stough added balance on both ends, contributing 7 points and 6 rebounds. Stough helped stabilize Buckeye on the perimeter, working alongside Snyderburn to limit Strongsville to one shot on many possessions in the first half. Together, their interior rebounding and physical play helped the Bucks build that narrow first-quarter edge and withstand Strongsville’s first run before halftime.

Out of the locker room, however, Strongsville gradually shifted the momentum. While Buckeye continued to compete on the boards, Strongsville found just enough offense in the third and fourth quarters, capitalizing on a handful of empty Buckeye trips and late-game defensive breakdowns. The Bucks’ offense managed 20 points in the second half but could not produce the decisive run needed to reclaim control in the closing minutes.

Despite the final margin, the performance underscored Buckeye’s ability to compete on the road behind its interior strength and effort on the glass. With Snyderburn and Stough leading the way and a defense that showed stretches of strong, connected play, the Bucks laid a foundation to build on heading into their upcoming stretch of games.
