Waupun broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning and went on to hand Buckeye a 6-1 loss Tuesday at Crosley Field in Myrtle Beach.
The Warriors scored first in the opening inning when Beahm drove in a run with a fly out. Buckeye answered in the top of the third. Metter singled to center field to bring home the tying run and briefly pull the Bucks even at 1-1. The deadlock did not last long. In the bottom half of the inning, Beahm came through again, this time with a home run to left field that gave Waupun a 3-1 lead and supplied the game’s decisive swing.
Buckeye managed four hits against Waupun starter Nelson, who worked six innings and kept the Bucks from building any sustained offense. Nelson allowed one run, struck out eight and did not issue a walk. Brown led Buckeye at the plate, finishing 2-for-3, while Metter went 1-for-3 and drove in the team’s lone run.
