Alvarez, Cabrera Lead Cascade Boys Soccer to 8-0 Senior Night Win Over Philomath
Cascade High School defeated Philomath 8-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 20, with the mercy rule ending the soccer match with 25 minutes remaining. Enrique Alvarez scored a hat trick. The Cougars closed their home league schedule with the victory, reaching the eight-goal margin well before the scheduled finish.
Alvarez finished with three goals and one assist, while Julian Cabrera supplied one goal and three assists. Together, they accounted for four of Cascade's eight goals and recorded four assists. Their contributions gave the Cougars production as both finishers and providers, with Alvarez leading the pair in goals and Cabrera setting up three scores.
Four additional goals came from the rest of Cascade's lineup, extending the attack beyond the two standout performers. The Cougars also held Philomath scoreless through the early finish to secure the shutout. The combination of scoring depth and a clean sheet marked Cascade's Senior Night, which doubled as its final home league appearance.
Cascade now turns to the road for the remaining dates on its league schedule. A trip to Taft on Tuesday, Oct. 27, will close league play after the upcoming matchup at Stayton. The match against Stayton takes place tomorrow evening, which will be pivotal in determining the league championship. The Cascade Boys Soccer team has never won the league championship in its history since becoming an official varsity sport at Cascade in 1995.
