Cascade High School Partners With KOIN 6 and uReport for Expanded Student Storytelling

We are excited to announce Cascade High School’s partnership with KOIN 6 and uReport as part of the KOIN 6 High School Sports Revolution. Starting this fall, we will be using uReport, a human-powered, AI-assisted storytelling platform that helps our student reporters and authorized program staff create professional coverage of athletics, school events, and student achievements. This partnership connects our school to a regional effort that will shine a bigger spotlight on high school sports across the area while giving our students hands-on experience with the evolving role of AI in journalism and media.

Through KOIN 6’s partnership with uReport and participating schools like ours, the region is set to receive expanded high school sports coverage across multiple platforms. That regional coverage includes a daily high school sports show airing Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 7 p.m., year-round live streaming of boys’ and girls’ sports, student reporter highlights on KOIN.com, Athlete of the Week recognition on KOIN 6 newscasts, and student-athlete stories featured in a weekly newsletter that reaches more than 50,000 subscribers. Our students will also gain experience creating stories through uReport, with regional opportunities to be featured in KOIN 6 Sports segments, signing day coverage, and an annual awards show with Sport Oregon.

At Cascade, our intention will be to use uReport throughout the year to expand how we tell the story of our school community. That means more coverage of our teams, student achievements, and school events, created by our student reporters and shared in a format that is timely, polished, and accessible for families, fans, students, and staff. We are looking forward to building a stronger connection between what happens on our campus and the people who support our students every day.

uReport has been approved for inclusion in the ISTE+ASCD EdTech Index, a vetted resource used by educators to identify high-quality digital learning tools. ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) is a leading global organization that sets the standard for effective use of technology in education.
