Cascade Boys Soccer Carries Summer Momentum Into Ambitious 4A Season
Cascade High School enters the boys soccer season with an optimistic outlook and a clear identity built around possession, ball movement and an experienced core. The Cougars went undefeated against Class 5A and 6A opponents during summer scrimmages, giving the program confidence that it can make an immediate impact at the 4A level. That momentum has carried into practices as Cascade prepares to test its style against a demanding schedule.
The Cougars return key players throughout the formation. Tanen Swing anchors the defense in goal, with Joseph Burnell at left back and Tony Lopez in the center. The midfield features a junior group of Julian Cabrera, Liam Clausen and Omari Andrade, providing continuity in the middle of the field. Sophomore winger Enrique “Quique” Gonzalez and incoming freshman Adan Martinez are two important newcomers expected to strengthen Cascade’s options in possession and attack.
Cascade’s ability to connect passes and advance the ball up the field should be one of its defining strengths. The Cougars also bring several individual qualities that complement that approach, including Cabrera’s shooting ability and Adan’s vision give the team the capability of quickly disrupting opposing attacks. The next step will be maintaining consistent communication and focus from minute to minute and from one match to the next.
Cascade’s varsity coaching staff has everyone returning from the previous season. Their work with a roster that blends returning experience and young talent will be important as the Cougars move from encouraging summer results into competitive matches. Establishing dependable defensive communication while helping the newcomers settle into their roles will be central to the team’s development.
Several home matches should provide a measure of Cascade’s progress. The Cougars host North Marion, 2025 State Championship Finalist, on Sept. 22nd at 4:30 p.m. A week later, they welcome 2025 State Quarterfinalist Newport on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. Each meeting with Stayton will also carry added importance. Before those tests, Cascade opens on the road against Astoria on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at 3 p.m.

1. Score 50+ goals
2. Concede less than 20 goals
3. Finish Top 2 in league play - will get playoff spot for 1st time since 2021
