TURNER, Ore. - Cascade High School defeated Taft 3-1 in a varsity volleyball league match Thursday, Oct. 8, winning 25-18, 15-25, 25-20, 25-13. Kade Lane finished with 31 kills, her highest total in a match so far.

The Cougars opened with energy and excitement, taking the first set by seven points. Taft responded with a 25-15 second-set victory to even the match, leaving Cascade needing to regain the advantage. Cascade is ranked No. 9, while Taft is ranked No. 10.

Cascade moved back in front with a 25-20 third-set win, then secured the match with its largest winning margin of the evening. The 25-13 fourth set gave the Cougars consecutive set victories after the second-set setback.

"We came out really strong and fighting"

Kade Lane played both outside and middle during the 31-kill performance. The Cougars also used Natalie Sannan at middle and outside, while Presley Schrader played middle and London Oliver played outside. Those assignments put multiple players into the front-row attack rather than keeping every hitter in one position.

Macie Theis played libero with 34 digs, while others like Kade Lane, Brayley Ford, and Vanessa Ravera court time in the back row. Jordyn Patterson played right side. Ainsley Ward appeared at both outside and middle, a combination not previously seen from that player this season.

The Cougars’ lineup featured contributions across the front and back rows, with Kade Lane providing the match’s standout offensive total. Cascade plays Central in its next contest Tuesday, Oct. 13.
