Cascade Football Blanks Molalla 81-0 Behind Two Second-Quarter Pick-Sixes
TURNER, Ore. - Cascade turned two second-quarter interceptions into touchdowns and combined a relentless rushing attack with a shutout defensive performance Friday, rolling past Molalla 81-0 at Cascade High School. Brody Anundi and Brady Kuenzi supplied the decisive defensive scores as the Cougars took control of the league game on both sides of the ball.
Anundi returned an interception for a touchdown in the second quarter, and Kuenzi added another pick-six during the quarter. Those two plays highlighted a Cascade defense that kept Molalla off the scoreboard throughout the game. The Cougars also started quickly on offense and had eight different players contribute points in the victory.
Cascade was credited with 324 rushing yards as several ball carriers produced touchdowns and explosive gains. Wyatt Kerrigan led the ground game with 135 yards and a touchdown. Andrew Moore gained 98 yards on six carries and scored twice, while Weston Shewell needed only two attempts to collect 70 yards and a touchdown.
The production continued throughout the backfield. Calvin Coombs rushed twice for 38 yards and a touchdown, and Tavian Laney scored on his lone carry, a 29-yard run. The range of contributors allowed Cascade to maintain its offensive pressure while complementing a defense that created points of its own.
Anundi earned MVP recognition among Cascade's Players of the Week for the Molalla game. Wyatt Bales received the lineman honor, Jamison Walsh was selected for offense, Kuenzi earned the defensive honor and Bradley Hinkle was recognized for special teams. The selections reflected contributions across every phase of Cascade's complete performance.
The Cougars will next travel to face Philomath at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 2nd, which will be Homecoming night.
