Clausen and Alvarez Score Twice as Cascade Shuts Out Central 4-0
Cascade High School defeated Central 4-0 behind two-goal performances from Liam Clausen and Enrique Alvarez on Tuesday. The home victory followed a 8-0 win against Central during the first half of league play.
Clausen and Alvarez split the scoring evenly, each supplying half of the Cougars’ four-goal total. Their matching performances gave Cascade two scoring threats, with neither player carrying the entire offensive load.
Cascade also finished the matchup without conceding a goal, keeping Central off the scoreboard to complement the contributions from its two scorers. The four-goal margin gave the Cougars a decisive result in their first of two scheduled matches this week, with a road trip still ahead before the week’s schedule is complete.
The schedule shifts away from home for Cascade, with visits to Stayton and Taft also on the upcoming slate. The Taft matchup is designated as the final league game, making the remaining road contests the next stretch of the season key for the team in terms of postseason placement. The Cougars play next at Newport today in a match that could have league championship implications.
