Senior Halle Hammer scored twice on 35-yard free kicks, including the decisive goal in the second half, as Cascade rallied for a 2-1 non league victory over Tillamook on Thursday night. Hammer’s second strike broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Cougars a lead they protected through the final whistle.

Tillamook opened the scoring early in the first half, putting Cascade under immediate pressure on the road. The Cougars answered shortly afterward when they earned a free kick from about 35 yards. Hammer stepped forward and sent the attempt over the goalkeeper’s head, leveling the match at 1-1 before halftime.

The match remained tense and physical, with repeated fouls called against both teams disrupting the flow of play. Cascade dealt with several decisions that went against the Cougars but continued to push for the go-ahead goal. Another foul call in the second half provided a second long-range opportunity, again from approximately 35 yards, and Hammer converted once more to put Cascade ahead 2-1.

Coach Cantrell
"I am super proud of both JV and Varsity this week, they both have played very hard and are looking better and better each practice and each game."

With the lead secured, Cascade’s defense kept Tillamook scoreless throughout the second half. The Cougars stayed composed despite the physical play and pressure of a one-goal match, finishing the comeback after conceding the opening goal. The victory moved Cascade from No. 16 to No. 13 in the rankings, while Tillamook dropped from No. 4 to No. 18.

Cascade will next travel to face North Marion at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22th. The Cougars will carry momentum from Hammer’s two set-piece goals and a determined second-half defensive performance into that road match.
