Julian’s Hat Trick Leads Cascade Boys Soccer Past Philomath 7-1
Julian Cabrera scored three goals and added an assist as Cascade High School defeated Philomath 7-1 in a varsity boys soccer league match last Thursday in Philomath. The Cougars earned their first victory over Philomath in more than five years.
Cabrera led the seven-goal attack with a hat trick while also helping set up a teammate’s finish. Adan Martinez contributed a goal and two assists, giving Cascade another source of both scoring and service. Together, the pair accounted for four of the Cougars’ seven goals and recorded three assists.
Liam Clausen also scored, marking the sixth game in which Clausen has found the net. Clausen continued to attack the opposing defense and finish chances, adding another scoring option alongside Cabrera and Martinez. Those three players supplied five goals in a match Cascade finished with a six-goal margin.
Philomath’s lone goal came from a penalty conceded by Cascade. That prevented a shutout, but the Cougars’ offensive production more than covered the concession. The 7-1 result ended a stretch of more than five years without a Cascade boys soccer victory in the matchup.
Cascade returns home for its next league matchup against Stayton on Tuesday, October 6th. The Cougars will look to beat their crosstown rivals for the first time since 2019.
