Kerrigan’s Opening Touchdown Sparks Cascade’s 68-0 Win Over Philomath
TURNER, Ore. - Wyatt Kerrigan scored on a 65-yard run on the first play of the game, launching Cascade High School toward a 68-0 football victory over Philomath on Friday, October 2th in Philomath. The Cougars paired explosive offense with a shutout defense, setting the tone immediately and keeping Philomath off the scoreboard throughout the homecoming game.
Kerrigan finished with 117 yards and two touchdowns on five carries, averaging 23.4 yards per attempt. His opening score accounted for more than half of his rushing total and gave Cascade an immediate offensive spark. The Cougars totaled 236 rushing yards, with Kerrigan providing nearly half of that production.
Cascade also produced a touchdown on special teams. Bradley Hinkle forced a fumble on a kickoff play, and Andrew Moore scored, turning the takeaway into points. Jacob Born added another long scoring play with a 65-yard touchdown in the second quarter, continuing the Cougars’ success on explosive plays.
Madden Hughes completed five of six passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns, giving Cascade efficient production through the air alongside its rushing attack. Half of Hughes’ pass attempts resulted in touchdowns. The Cougars finished with 356 total offensive yards, combining their 120 passing yards with the ground game.
The defense supplied the other half of Cascade’s decisive performance, holding Philomath scoreless while the offense continued to add points. The shutout complemented touchdown contributions from the running game, passing game and kickoff unit. The Cougars will look to notch another win in their next contest on Friday, October 9th against Estacada, which will serve as Cascade's Homecoming game this year.
