Spencer Moll Brings Encouragement and Purpose to Cascade Boys Soccer
Spencer Moll gives teammates a passing option with his runs and a lift with his encouragement, pairing the physical work of soccer with a commitment to supporting those around him. He has been part of Cascade High School’s varsity boys soccer team since his freshman year.
Spencer Moll, leadership starts with how he responds to the people beside him and the challenges in front of him. “I encourage them, encourage myself, and work hard,” he said. His approach includes holding himself to the same effort he asks of teammates, whether in practice or competition.
Moll sees his movement without the ball as an important part of his connection with teammates. By making runs for them to pass to, he works to give the Cougars options in possession. His team goals center on bringing good effort to every game and practice through the end of league play and into the playoffs.
A win over Stayton stands out to Moll because of the mindset Cascade brought into the matchup. “The Stayton game was really good because we went in actually looking for a win,” he said. He believes the Cougars can extend their current streak, with beating Stayton again and winning state among his ambitions.
Alongside those competitive goals, Moll has a personal priority: staying healthy for the rest of the season and, he hopes, into the offseason. The immediate schedule brings another chance to put his emphasis on effort into action when he and the undefeated Cougars face Philomath at home on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m for Senior Night.
