Des Moines Lincoln broke a second-half tie with two goals in the final 30 minutes Friday night, pulling away from Bondurant-Farrar for a 4-2 home victory.
Xavier Keomany led the attack with two goals for the Railsplitters, while Brandon Hernandez and Diego Astudillo also found the net. Lincoln seized the early lead and controlled stretches of the opening half, but Bondurant-Farrar answered and eventually drew even early in the second half to put the match back in the balance.
The turning point came after Bondurant-Farrar erased the deficit. Lincoln responded with renewed pressure and restored order over the final half hour, producing the two decisive goals that separated the sides. Keomany's two-goal night gave the Railsplitters a steady finishing touch, and the additional strikes from Hernandez and Astudillo rounded out a balanced offensive effort.
Lincoln's response after the equalizer was as important as the scoring total. Rather than letting the match slip, the Railsplitters regrouped and dictated play late, turning a tied match into a two-goal win. The defensive effort also tightened in the closing stretch, limiting Bondurant-Farrar's chances as Lincoln protected the advantage.
The result gave Lincoln a composed, complete win built on an early edge, a measured answer to adversity and a strong finish when the match demanded it most. With Keomany providing the biggest scoring punch and Hernandez and Astudillo adding goals of their own, the Railsplitters closed the night with their best soccer in the final 30 minutes.
The Rails return to the pitch on Tuesday night as they take on the North Polar Bears at Mediacom Stadium.
