Detroit Cristo Rey Softball will host Dearborn Henry Ford Academy on Tuesday, April 28th in a nonleague matchup that gives the Wolves another chance to secure their first victory of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at St. Hedwig Field, with Cristo Rey returning home for a game that carries added significance as the team looks to build momentum in the early part of its schedule.

The Wolves enter the matchup still searching for a breakthrough result, and Tuesday’s game offers an opportunity to reset after a difficult opening stretch. Cristo Rey’s schedule has already included a 19-0 road loss to Shrine Catholic on April 14, and the team also hosted Gabriel Richard last week. Against Henry Ford Academy, the focus will be on cleaner defense, more consistent contact at the plate and finding stability over a full seven innings.

Cristo Rey’s varsity roster features Isabella Alaniz, Isabella Callaghan, Katia Claro, Raquel Cruz, Amy Cruz-Torres, Victoria Gonzalez, Genesis Gutierrez, Victoria Hutchinson, Valentinna Lugo, Heidi Magdaleno, Gabriella Ramirez, Judit Rodriguez, Arianna Taber and Yriana Zuniga. With no individual player notes or pitching assignments provided ahead of the game, the Wolves’ storyline centers on how that group responds collectively in a home setting against Henry Ford Academy.

The matchup is also a chance for Detroit Cristo Rey to establish a steadier rhythm before the calendar turns deeper into May, when upcoming games at Hazel Park and Cabrini will continue to test the team. Tuesday’s contest may be outside league play, but it still gives the Wolves a valuable opportunity to sharpen execution and pursue the program’s first win of the season on their home field.
