#24 Montana Tech wins first ever Frontier Conference Women's Cross Country Championship

In an impressive showing at the 2024 Frontier Conference Women's Cross Country Championship, No. 24 ranked Montana Tech emerged as the clear victor, clinching the first place at Amend Park in Billings, Mont. The meet, held on November 6, saw standout performances from Montana Tech runners, who led the team to victory with a team score of 26 and an impressive average clock time of 23:06.80. The Orediggers had four runners placed in the top five spots, fueling to their first-ever Frontier Women's Cross Country conference title in school history. The championship, which featured strong competition from (RV) Carroll, #25 Rocky Mountain, Montana Western, and MSU-Northern. Alyssa Plant starred for the Orediggers, clinching first place with the fastest time of the meet at 22:33.50. She was closely followed by teammate Kamryn Comba, who secured second place with a time of 22:56. The third-fastest competitor, Kallyn Wilkins from Rocky Mountain, finished just behind Comba with a time of 22:56.60. MT’s commanding performance not only decimated the field with the best team score but also marked significant individual achievements. The standings for the meet were as follows: Carroll finished second with a team score of 47, Rocky Mountain followed in third place with a score of 61, Montana Western was fourth scoring 95, and MSU-Northern ended the event with an incomplete score. Montana Tech ended Carroll's streak of four consecutive Frontier Women's Cross Country conference title. MT’s women's cross-country team received the FC's automatic bid to the NAIA Cross Country National Championships, which is slated for Friday, Nov. 22, at Gans Creek Cross Country in Columbia, Mo. The others await to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships, which will be announced early next week.
