Three Frontier Conference Volleyball Teams Recognized in NAIA Preseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - No. 6 Providence (Mont.) will open the 2026 NAIA women’s volleyball season Aug. 14 against Indiana Tech in Hawaii, beginning a season in which three Frontier Conference programs carry national recognition. Bellevue (Neb.) is ranked No. 8, while Montana Tech received votes in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 Poll announced Wednesday afternoon.

Providence enters the opener after a 34-3 season in 2025. The Argos advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship before falling to Concordia (Neb.), and they maintained the No. 6 position entering 2026. Their first match will test a reworked roster against Indiana Tech on the opening day of the national season.

The Argos return 10 players and welcome 12 newcomers after losing six key contributors from last season. Those departures include two All-Americans and the NAIA Setter of the Year, leaving Providence to replace significant production and leadership. The returning group will be central to establishing continuity as the newcomers adjust to the lineup and the expectations attached to a top-10 ranking.

Bellevue will begin its season one week later with another Frontier Conference matchup against Indiana Tech. The eighth-ranked Bruins open Aug. 21 at the Onset Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind., following a 29-5 campaign in 2025. Bellevue also reached the national quarterfinals last season, where it was eliminated by eventual national runner-up Northwestern (Iowa.

The Bruins bring back 14 letterwinners but only three starters, creating a different kind of roster transition. Their returning experience gives Bellevue a sizable foundation, while the limited number of returning starters leaves several lineup roles to be settled. The Onset Invitational will offer an early measure of how quickly that group can come together against Indiana Tech.

Montana Tech’s place among the teams receiving votes gives the Frontier three programs represented in the preseason national picture. With Providence and Bellevue both coming off quarterfinal appearances, their opening matches will begin the work of defending top-10 rankings and positioning the conference for another strong national showing. The 2026 NAIA women’s volleyball season begins Friday, Aug. 14, with Providence among the first Frontier teams on the court.
