Valley City State to host 2027 and 2028 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships
HELENA, Mont. (July 22, 2026) - The Frontier Conference has selected Valley City State to host the 2027 and 2028 Frontier Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships. Both championships will be held at Valley City Town & Country Club, bringing our conference's premier cross-country event to Valley City, North Dakota, for two consecutive seasons.
Our men's and women's cross-country programs will gather at the course to compete for Frontier Conference team and individual championships, along with berths in the NAIA Cross Country Championships. Each winning team in the men's and women's divisions will receive one automatic bid to the national meet, placing national qualification at the center of both championship races.
“The city of Valley City and Valley City State University are excited to be selected as the host institution for the 2027 and 2028 conference cross country championships,” VCSU Athletics Director Dennis McCulloch said. “Our university takes immense pride in providing a championship-caliber environment, and we look forward to welcoming the finest runners in the conference to our course. This opportunity reflects our community’s support and our commitment to creating a memorable postseason experience for student-athletes and fans alike.”
Individual runners will also have a path to national qualification. A runner who finishes among the top 15 but is not on the championship team or an at-large team will be eligible for consideration as an automatic or at-large entrant in the NAIA Cross-country meet. The Frontier Conference may receive up to four individual at-large bids.
The dates of the 2027 and 2028 championships will be announced later. We will share additional details about the venue, course maps, race times and spectator information closer to each championship date as we prepare to welcome student-athletes, coaches and fans to Valley City Town & Country Club.
