PEPPER PIKE, Ohio - Gilmour Boys Varsity Soccer defeated Orange 1-0 on Thursday, Oct. 8, with Ben Grossner scoring the decisive goal late in the first half. The victory gave the Lancers their second straight win. Goalkeeper Kevin Moore finished with seven saves to help preserve the one-goal margin.
Neil Turner assisted on the lone Lancer goal, supplying the setup for Ben Grossner before halftime. That combination produced the only scoring of the match and sent the Lancers into the break ahead 1-0. Neither team scored in the second half, leaving the late first-half finish as the difference at the final whistle.
Moore recorded a third shutout of the season, pairing the seven-save performance with a clean sheet against Orange. With no second goal to extend the advantage, Gilmour needed to keep Orange off the scoreboard throughout the remainder of the match. Moore's work in goal complemented the decisive attacking contribution from the scorer and assist provider.
The result added another victory to the Lancers' consecutive-win stretch as they moved to 6-8-1 with two regular season games remaining. Gilmour plays Hoban next at home on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
