Gilmour Academy Lancers Faced Tough Challenge Against Cleveland Rhodes Rams

In a challenging regular season face-off, the Gilmour Academy Lancers' freshman basketball team took on the Cleveland Rhodes Rams on January 16, 2025, at Gilmour Academy. Despite a valiant effort, the Lancers fell short with a final score of 30-51 in favor of the Rams. The game started off tough for the Lancers as they trailed the Rams 13-25 at halftime. The top scorers for Gilmour Academy, Noah Hillman led the team with 9 points, followed by Liam McCrone with 7 points, and Lorenzo adding another 6 points to the board. Supporting the effort, Brayden Phillip contributed 2 points, Milan Makovitz scored 4 points, and Vinny Konopka also added 2 points. Despite the loss, each player demonstrated growth and resilience. Coach Benisek provided insights after the game, emphasizing learning and perseverance, "Games like this are great learning lessons for our guys. Rhodes was a very talented team and they really got after us with their pressure. I just thought we had too many empty possessions where we didn't even get a shot up. When we got set up and ran our sets, we got really good looks. Just have to keep taking it day by day. Each practice and game is an opportunity to get better." Looking ahead, the Lancers, currently holding a 5-8 record, are set to take on Cardinal Mooney at an away game on January 25, 2025.
