Gilmour Academy Lancers Shine at 2024 Big 8 Swimming & Diving Invitational
Gilmour Academy's Swimming & Diving team, the Lancers, made notable waves at the 2024 Big 8 Invitational held on December 20 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium. The event saw both the girls and boys teams finishing in 8th place, scoring 151 and 106 points respectively.
The competition highlighted several standout performances from the Lancers, particularly in the girls' events. Gianna M Minotas excelled in the Girls 100 Yard Backstroke, clocking an impressive time of 1:03.38, showcasing her prowess in the pool. Other notable performances included Lorelai Kaufman and Anna K Johannessen, each contributing significantly to the team's overall score.
On the boys' side, PJ A Koerwitz, Conor W Tietjen, and Andrew Varanese were the top performers. Tietjen's remarkable effort in the Boys 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing with a time of 56.61, was a highlight of the day. Varanese also made a significant impact with his performance in the Boys 500 Yard Freestyle, recording a time of 5:23.54.
