Gilmour Academy Lancers Shine at Cleveland State University Swimming & Diving Invitational
The Gilmour Academy Lancers showcased their talent and determination at the recent swimming and diving invitational held on December 20, 2025, at Busbey Natatorium, Cleveland State University. The event featured both the men's and women's teams competing against top regional schools in a series of challenging races. Gilmour Academy's women's team scored 163 points to finish in 4th place, while the men's team earned 158 points, finishing 5th. Notable achievements included the girls' 200-yard medley relay team claiming 3rd place with a commendable time of 1:51.44. In individual events, PJ Koerwitz captured 3rd place in the boys' 50-yard freestyle as well as a second place finish in the 100 yar freestyle braking the school record. Additionally, the boys' 200-yard medley relay team achieved 9th place with a time of 1:44.24, and Luke Woodhouse secured 4th place in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 58.17. The girls' 200-yard freestyle relay team exhibited strong performance throughout the meet, successfully qualifying for the finals. Swimmer Tinsley Zhang expressed enthusiasm about the team's effort, stating, 'I am thrilled with our team's performance. Everyone put in their best effort, and it was rewarding to see improvement in our times and placements.' Coach’s remarks reflected satisfaction with the team's overall performance: 'Our team's perseverance and skill shone through in this challenging meet. We're proud of the progress and competitive spirit displayed by all our swimmers,' the coach commented. Looking ahead, the Lancers are set to compete next at the All Catholic Invite on December 29, 2025, at Gilmour Academy. The team aims to continue their strong performances into the upcoming event.
