MENTOR, Ohio - Gilmour Boys JV Golf posted a 340 to tie for third place among 14 teams at the Mentor Cardinal JV Tournament on Thursday, Aug. 6. The Lancers narrowly missed earning a trophy, falling a couple of strokes short in the scorecard playoff used to break the tie.
Carter Slife and Paul Fox led the team with matching rounds of 82. Their scores established the Lancers’ pace and gave the team two consistent totals at the top of its lineup in a tightly contested tournament.
Braden Minotas added an 87, while Keegan Wintersteller completed the four counting scores with an 89. Those rounds combined for Gilmour's team total of 340 and secured a share of third place. With only a few strokes separating the JV Lancers from a trophy, each of the four counting rounds proved important in the final standings. The team also received a 92 from Joe Goff and a 97 from Blackbrook Golf Course.
Boys JV Golf will be back in action on Monday, Aug. 10 competing in the CVCA JV Tournament at Glenmoor Country Club.
