Gilmour Boys Varsity Soccer Falls 2-1 at Lutheran West in Third Match
Rocky River, Ohio - Gilmour Academy dropped a 2-1 decision to Lutheran West on Saturday afternoon, with the hosts’ second goal providing the decisive margin in the Lancers’ third match of the season.
Dominic Schaffer supplied Gilmour’s lone goal, giving the Lancers an attacking response in the one-goal match. Neil Turner also tallied an assist on Dominic Schaffer’s goal as Gilmour found a way through the Lutheran West defense. The contributions gave the Lancers a chance to stay within striking distance, but they could not produce the additional finish needed to pull even.
Gilmour’s defense kept the margin at one goal through the final whistle. Kevin Moore recorded one save in goal for the Lancers, who conceded twice but remained close enough for a tying goal to change the outcome. Lutheran West protected its narrow advantage and finished the match with the 2-1 victory.
The result marked Gilmour’s first three-match checkpoint of the season and offered several performances to build on. The Lancers left Lutheran West with a one-goal defeat after remaining competitive on the road through the final whistle.
